To facilitate alternator tensioning, WBX engines with a 90-ampere (AC) alternator are fitted with a gear on the tensioning bracket.
The alternator is lightly tightened with the special M8 bolt, after which the V-belt is tensioned by turning the sprocket; once the correct tension has been reached, the bolt is tightened again to lock the assembly in place.
Corrosion and/or broken teeth are the main reasons why the alternator needs to be replaced.
