Injection engines are controlled by the ECU (Engine Control Unit). The necessary information that the ECU needs is transmitted by various sensors. If a sensor doesn't give the correct information, the ECU will react to it, which can lead to annoying malfunctions.
The sensor listed here transmits the coolant temperature to the ECU, mounted in Volkswagen Buses with a metal thermostat housing.
