The best way to cool your cylinders is to use a Porsche cooling fan, which normally cools an air-cooled 6 cylinder. You can imagine that this is more than enough for our 4 cylinders, even if they are very oversized, cooling problems will never happen again.
When switching to a Porsche cooling system, some adjustments should be made and keep in mind that the Type 4 engine no longer fits under the hood of a VW Bus. On the other hand, you can mount a Type 4 engine in a Bus that originally had a Type 1 engine, so that it will be possible to replace your Type 1 engine with a Type 4 2.0 litre engine without further adjustment.
Whether you equip a Type 1, Type 3 or Type 4 engine with a Porsche cooling system, you can be assured of a Porsche 911 with great sound.
In addition to another fan shroud, fan, mounting kit and necessary housing adjustments for your Type 4 motor, the original pulley is no longer usable either. The aluminium pulley mentioned here is equipped with laser engraved graduations and is only applicable for type 4 engines equipped with the Porsche 911 cooling system.
