Until the model change in 1974, the Volkswagen 1302 and 1303 models were equipped with an auxiliary steering box next to the main steering box.
In this auxiliary steering box there is a vulcanized metal bush (silentblock) which must absorb the play. If it is worn, excessive steering clearance occurs, which can cause vibrations while driving.
For assembly, it is useful to have a press with which this bush can be pressed progressively into the auxiliary steering box.
