The springs of the Volkswagen Beetle 1302 and 1303 rest on the strut plate. To minimize noise during compression and decompression, a damping ring is mounted between the spring and the spring plate. This rubber is moulded to the contours of the spring which is also in the spring plate, all to prevent displacement. This damping ring also serves to protect the spring from paint damage. Once the paint is damaged, rust will appear, which can possibly affect the function of the spring. If your Volkswagen Beetle is making background noises when the suspension is in action, check to see if these damping rings are still present, chances are they are missing or half digested.
Supplied in pairs, for both springs.
Now that you're busy with your springs and struts, chances are other parts will need to be replaced, see the "Related Parts" tab for the most common parts for the Volkswagen Beetle 1302 and 1303. .
