Copper and aluminum are fairly flexible, heat and corrosion resistant materials that are well suited for use as gaskets.
It is a misconception that you can reuse a copper or aluminum gasket. Once assembled, the gasket has taken on the shape of the contact faces, reuse leads irreparably to leakage.
The gaskets listed here are mainly used to seal sensors but also for other purposes. You will find below for each Volkswagen model where these rings have been used and how many of them are needed in total.
VW Beetle :
Cylinder head temperature sensor for injection engines up to 1.1980: 1 piece.
Vaporizer housing of the heat exchanger lock until 7.1970: 1 piece.
Type 3 :
Spray housing of the auxiliary heating until 1964 (315,000,001 ): 1 piece.
Banjo bolt adapter for oil pressure switch from 8.1963: 1 piece
Vanagon :
Temperature control sensor in the cooling hose WBX DF, DG, SP or EY: 1 piece.
Locking screw for oil filter holder all diesel engines: 1 piece.
Closing screw of cooling flange of Turbo Diesel engines: 1 piece.
Pressure switch of power steering pump: 1 piece.
Pressure switch for 0.25 bar engine oil 71817 WBX and diesel engines: 1 piece
Engine oil pressure switch 0.9 bar 71820 Diesel engines: 1 piece
Engine oil pressure switch 1.4 bar Diesel engines from 8.1984: 1 piece
Coolant temperature sensor for WBX and Diesel engines: number differs
Carburetor air conditioning / power steering thermoswitch WBX DG and SP: 1 piece
Diesels thermostat with additional water pump until 12/1988: 1 piece
