Our Volkswagens are full of screws, bolts, nuts and washers, not all manufactured for a particular model, but used universally. These parts can be identified by their reference number starting with the "N" of the German word "Normteile", meaning "standard parts". Just because it's a standard part doesn't mean it's still available today.
The hexagonal bolts listed here are identical to the original, and therefore also include breast bolts with a tensile strength of 8.8, which is important for the applications of these bolts.
Note: always use Volkswagen-specified bolts with the correct tensile strength. Never use bolts of the same size, but with a different tensile strength from the original.
The list below shows, for each VW model, what these bolts are used for and how many parts are required in total.
Beetle

- automatic gearbox NA,NB,NC and ND code valve housing, 15 pieces
- automatic gearbox NE and NF code valve housing, 11 pieces
- igniter clamp, 1 piece
VW Vanagon
- automatic gearbox with regulator, 11 pieces
- ignition collar, 1 pieces
- Mulitvan rear seat brackets, 50 pieces
Type 3
- automatic gearbox valve housing with regulator, 15 pieces
VW Thing
- igniter clamp, 1 piece
