On all Volkswagen Vanagon models, the camber (the angle at which the tyres are on the asphalt) is adjusted using the mounting bolt on the upper support arm, which is eccentric. It is not the bolts that are eccentric but the washers through which these flat-faced bolts pass. Rust is the biggest culprit because the camber can no longer be adjusted. If you are afraid to unscrew this bolt, use a rustproofing product (e.g. WD-40 ) and try to remove it carefully. If the flat sides on which the eccentric rings are held are worn or damaged by rust, adjustment will be difficult, resulting in undesirable handling and excessive tire wear.
Also carefully check the eccentric rings and replace them at the same time, they will probably be worn (see the Options tab).
These bolts can also be used on models up to March 1982 but then in combination with new eccentric bushings (see options tab)
