Most bumps in the decorative moldings of the running boards occur when you step into the car, aluminum is a soft metal. No need to buy a new molding to replace damaged ones, they are available separately in aluminum or polished stainless steel, as are the molding clips.
Originally, Volkswagen only used aluminum moldings, which you can polish with a copper polish, for example. Aluminum has a major disadvantage: it is a vulnerable material. This is partly why the widest moldings are also available in polished stainless steel, they are more resistant to rough handling and are polished in the factory.
For the first Volkswagen, the difference in the year of manufacture is in the profiling of the moldings, and for the other moldings, there is a difference in width. If you include the molding clips that belong to the molding, you can mount any decorative molding on any running board, regardless of the year of construction.
Always add additional molding mounting clips (see options tab), they can only be used once.
