On the Volkswagen Beetle 1302 and 1303, the steering angle is limited or adjusted by stop bolts, which are located in the auxiliary steering gear housing.
These were M8 bolts until January 1972, after which they were changed to M12 with a tensile strength of 10.9. The M12 bolt mentioned here is a bolt specifically produced by Volkswagen. The wrench size is 17 mm, whereas it is 19 mm for standard M12 bolts. The tensile strength of 10.9 makes this bolt special and therefore not found on the shelves of hardware stores or other stores specializing in nuts and bolts.
After determining the correct steering angle, the bolts are secured with a standard nut. To keep the bolts mobile, it is advisable to fill them with copper grease, take this copper grease in addition if necessary (list in the options tab).
